Saugus battled Hart Friday and dropped a close game 5-7. The Cents led 2-0 after the 1st inning on a two run double by Tyler Brubaker on an 0-2 mistake by Hart's Trevor Bauer that Bru sent to the wall. Saugus tied the game 5-5 in the game in the 6th on a single by Kopacka, a double by Schweitzer and Piper's on-base-by error. The Cents have a one game lead on West Ranch for the last CIF Playoff spot. Saugus looks to rebound against Golden Valley next week.

Saugus lost a close one to the first place Indians 3-4. In the 5 th inning the Cents took a 2-0 lead on Nick Kopacka’s Home Run blast that landed roof of the portable classrooms in right field. But it wouldn’t last; Hart scored 2 in the bottom half of the 5 th to tie. Hart would go up 3-2 in the 6 th. With two outs in the 7 th Darren Schweitzer singled to center to score Vincej and tie the game 3-3. Hart scored the winning run on a Texas league single. Both teams duke it out again on Friday at Saugus 3:15 pm.

Saugus defeated Canyon 2-1 on the road in eight innings. Michael Herbert pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief and had four strikeouts. Stefan Cordes had a go-ahead triple at the top of the eighth. Tyler Brubaker was 2-3.

The Cents improved to 3-2 in the Foothill League with a decisive win over Canyon on Friday 12-5 at Saugus. Brett Piper hit a solo Home Run in the 4th inning. Saugus put the game out of reach in the fifth with nine runs. Offensive contributions came from all as nine different Centurions had hits in the game. Darren Schweitzer put in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked one.

Saugus Varsity defeated The Grizzles of Golden Valley 14-3. JB Boersma went five innings and gave up two runs for the win. Stefan Cordes and Dylan Mascarenas each hit home runs for the Centurions. Saugus (5-4, 2-2) play Canyon at home on Friday.

The Saugus bats struggled against the Indian's pitching on Friday. Bright spots offensivley included a solo shot Home Run by Aaron Hooper and Zach Vincej who went 2-3 on the day. Three games into league the Cents face Golden Valley Wednesday. Saugus, Canyon and West Ranch are all tied for third place. Look for the Saugus bats to blow up in the following week. Go Saugus!

The Centurions rebounded from last Friday's loss to beat West Ranch 12-3. Troy Ajer hit a two run Home run in the Fourth. Aaron Hooper doubled to left field for a 5-1 lead. Nick Kopacka hit a double to clear the bases for a 10-2 lead. J.B. Boersma pitched a complete game.

Saugus wrapped up play in the 2008 Easton So. Cal. Showdown with a decisive win against Dos Pueblos 16-7. Tyler Brubaker hit a grand salami and Troy Ajer hit a 3-run bomb. Cody Chew went 3-for-5 and scored 3 runs. Brett Piper went 3-for-4 and scored twice.

Saugus scored four runs in the fifth inning to break open the game. Stefan Cordes hit a two-run home run to cap off the inning. Vincej went 2-4, Brett Piper hit a triple. Michael Hebert shut Palmdale down in the 7th by striking out the side. Saugus plays Dos Pueblos at home on Saturday.

Offensively Justin Shehan went 2-for-5 with an RBI, run and double. Evan Steen went 3-for-5 with a triple. Defensively Brad Bucanagni pitched four innings, struck out five and gave up a run. Saugus is 3-2-1 in the Foothill League.

Saugus pitcher Kurt Wieczorek went four innings, striking out five. Scott Kerrigan went three innings with three strike outs in relief. Even Steen went 2-4 with a single, triple and 3 RBI's. Brandon Clark went 3-3 with a double. Saugus plays Canyon on Friday.

Even Steen went 4-5 and scored 2 runs. Conner Collins went 3-4 and scored twice. Scott Kerrigan threw a complete game and also hit triple with 3 RBI's.
