Saugus (0) vs. Moorpark(5) |
Consecutive RBI doubles
in the first inning and a three-run
home run in the third inning led Moorpark
(18-11), the third place team in the
Marmonte league, to an upset at third-seeded
Saugus (23-4), which had won 18 games
in a row.

Senior Thomas Milone
(9-1) struck out seven for his first-ever
perfect game, throwing 45 strikes
and 15 balls, and he also hit a three-run
home run in the sixth inning to help
Foothill League champion Saugus (23-3,
14-1), ranked No. 3 by The Times,
claim a victory at Canyon Country
Canyon.
Saugus has now won a school-record
18 consecutive games (the previous
record was 16) and needs one more
victory to tie the school mark for
wins in a season, set in 1989.
Casey Stevenson, Travis Babin, Julian
Cruz, Ryan Erickson and Chris Pate
each had two hits for Saugus, which
compiled 11 total hits.

Brandon Marcia threw six innings, allowing
one run on just three hits while striking
out six and walking one, and Saugus
scored the game-winning run in the bottom
of the seventh inning on a sacrifice
fly by Danny Hughes. Tim Samway scored
on the sacrifice, giving the Centurions
(22-3, 13-1) -- who are ranked No. 3
by the Times and who have already clinched
the Foothill League title -- their 17th
consecutive win. |

Kody Kurowski pitched 4 innings and
earned the win as the Cents clinched
the outright Foothill League Title.
A six run 3rd was all Saugus would need,
but Tommy Milone was not finished. He
hit his 6th Home Run of the year to
right field. Daniel Hughes had three
hits, inluding a triple, and drove in
a run. Milone pitched 3 scoreless innings
in relief. |

Brandon Marcia (6-1) threw five shutout
innings and Thomas Milone was two for
two with three RBIs as Saugus (20-3,
11-1), ranked No. 4 by The Times, won
their 20th game of the year. Andy Parr
had two doubles and an RBI, Kean Christopherson
added an RBI double. The Cents can clinch
Foothill League with a win at home on
Friday against Burroughs. |

Cent's Shortstop Dan Hughes delivered
the play of the game. A diving catch
of a line drive that resulted in a double
play with bases loaded in the top of
the 6th. Julian Cruz's single past the
stretched arms of the Vikings shortstop
delivered the only run of the game in
Casey Stevenson. Tommy Milone shut the
door in the 7th 1-2-3 to seal the win. |

Brandon Marcia gave up three hits and
two earned runs in five innings, with
Tommy Malone stranding the tying run
in the seventh inning for his first
save of the year for No. 12 Saugus (18-3,
9-1). Danny Hughes, Ryan Erickson and
Malone led the Saugus offense with two
hits apiece, with Julian Cruz adding
an RBI single. Valencia is 12-10, 6-4. |

Saugus (17-3) completed the doubleheader
sweep as three pitchers combined to
hold the Lions to one run. Andy Parr
(2-0) threw four innings of three-hit,
shutout ball before Peter Ibarra relieved
him for 1 2/3 innings, and Julian Cruz
finished up 1 1/3 inning of no-hit ball,
earning his second save with two strikeouts.
Babin went two for three with an RBI,
Milone had an RBI double and Sean McPheeters
went 2-for-2. |

Travis Babin had a two-run walk-off
home run in the bottom of the seventh
inning to give Saugus the first-game
victory over visiting Oaks Christian.
Thomas Milone singled to lead off the
inning. Babin (1-1) recorded one out
in the top of the seventh to get the
decision. Ryan Erickson went two for
three with two RBI's. Daniel Hughes,
Andy Parr, and Chase Ritenour all had
twi hits in the game. |

Travis Babin had a double and three
RBIs and Daniel Hughes had two base
hits and two runs scored for Saugus
(15-3, 8-1), ranked No. 13 by The Times.
Matt McCarty added a triple and two
RBIs for Saugus. The win coupled with
a 12-2 Canyon loss to Valencia gives
the Cents a 2 game lead in the Foothill
race. |

Brandon Marcia (5-1) threw five innings
and allowed two hits and no earned runs,
and Thomas Milone had a solo blast home
run to right field. It was Milone's
5th on the season and most in the Foothill
League. Saugus is now ranked No. 13
in the L.A. Times rankings (14-3, 7-1).
Kody Kurowski earned the save in the
7th by inducing a 6-4-3 double play
to preseve the win. Kean Christopherson
added an RBI single. |

Senior left-hander Thomas Milone (6-1)
pitched six scoreless innings, allowing
five hits and striking out three, and
Casey Stevenson's two-run double keyed
a six-run fifth inning. Milone, who

with an RBI. Dan Hughes and Julian Cruz
each finished with two base hits and
two RBIs each for Saugus. |

Casey Stevenson drove a 1-2 pitch against
the right-center field fence for a bases-clearing
double. The hit was the game winner as Saugus
defeated host Righetti 7-3 at Elks Field Saturday
for the championship of the inaugural Righetti
Spring Tournament. Saugus pitchers Parr, Cruz,
Peter Ibarra and Dustin Ruge scattered a combined
seven hits. |

Tommy Milone pitched five strong
innings to pick up his fourth victory
of the season. Tommy struck out ten
and allowed only two hits. Travis
Babin picked up his first save of
the season by pitching the final two
innings and striking out five. Offensively,
the Centurions scored their first
fun of the game on a sacrifice fly
by Danny Hughes scoring Chris Pate.
Saugus received an insurance run in
the sixth on a two year RBI single
by Kean Christopherson. Christopherson,
Milone and Casey Stevenson had two
hits a piece for Saugus. Dustin Ruge
had two singles and a double. |

Brandon Marcia threw a complete game
striking out nine while allowing only
one earned run to his third victory
on the season. Offensively, the Centurions
were led by Casey Stevenson, Danny
Hughes and Julian Cruz who each had
three hits in the game. Tim Samway
had the defensive play of the game.
He threw a base runner out at home
plate to turn the momentum in favor
of the Centurions in the second inning. |

Saugus (10) vs. Hart (0) |
With his bat and his arm, Thomas
Milone led the Centurions to a 10-0
win on Tuesday against previously
unbeaten league rival Hart High School.
Tommy had four hits at the plate,
including two solo home runs and pitched
five scoreless innings. Travis Babin
completed the shutout pitching the
final two innings. Brandon Marcia
had a two-run, two out single in the
first to get the Centurions rolling.
Ryan Erickson had a run scoring single,
Andy Parr had a two run single and
Chris Pate and Danny Hughes added
two hits a piece for Saugus. Saugus
looks to match their intensity in
this game on Friday when they travel
to Burbank to play the Bulldogs. |

Salami (grand slam) to center
field for a game winning home run
in a 6-3 Saugus JV victory over Valencia.
Mark Terrazas earned the win, throwing
a complete game with five strike-outs.
Brandon Reynolds was 1-for-1 with
a walk and an RBI. Saugus is now 17-1
overall and 10-1 in the Foothill League. |

Everyone in Saugus starting line-up
was able to collect at least one hit
as they beat Valencia 8-6. For Saugus,
Kyle Monson went 2 for 3 with a double
and a walk, Chris Gelinas went 2 for
3 with a walk, a stolen base and a
RBI, and Phillip Rowland went 2 for
3 with a double and a walk. Also,
Spencer Smith went 1 for 2 with a
three run double and Nick Gauthier
went 2 for 3 with a 2 run single and
a stolen base. Kurk Evanoff pitched
the sixth and seventh innings to collect
the victory. Saugus in now 16-2 and
9-1 in league. |

(4) |
JV won Burbank 23 to 4 in 4 innings.
Burbank threw in the towel after the
4th inning. Kurk Evanoff hit his 1st
homerun over the right field fence.
The whole team helped bring in runs.
Scooter the manager had a single with
an RBI. Phillip Rowland came into
the pitch in the 5th inning and got
the win. He had 5 strike outs.

RBI's and two stolen bases to lead
the JV Centurions to a sweep of the
season series over Hart. Brandon Young
was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a steal
for Saugus (13-2, 6-1), while teammate
Brandon Reynolds knock in two runs
. Pitcher Mark Terrazas improved to
5-1 with the win. |

Chirs Gelinas and Phillip Rowland
each went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's in
the win. Mark Terrazas single between
2nd & 1st scored Phillip Rowland
from 2nd for the win in the 8th inning.
Brandon Reynolds was 3-for-4 with
two runs and two RBI'S. Then the Cent's
took the field in the 8th inning and
held the Indians to no runs for the
win. Brent Newman came in to pitch
in the 3rd inning for the win. |

as Saugus beat Valencia 11-10. For

walk, Phillip Rowland went 3-for-4
with a RBI. Bandon Young went 1-for-2
with two RBI's, a stolen base and
two walks, while Joe Manente went

In game two for Saugus Brent Newman
went five innings giving up two hits
and two runs. Newman also went 2-for-3

RBI's. Kyle Monson went 2-for-3 with
six RBI's, a double
and a triple.

Saugus collected 12 hits including
a homerun by Matt Allman, but it wasn't
enough as the Centurions fell to Burroughs
4 - 3. Corey Scott started and pitched
well through 5 innings with 8 strike
outs. JB Boersma came on in the sixth
and retired the side with 2 groundouts
and fly ball to center. Ryan Fulkerson,
batting second, went 2 for 4 with
a triple, a single, and a sacrifice
bunt. Boersma was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
Allman was 3 for 4 with the homerun,
a double and a single. Soboleski had
a single and a double. Brubaker and
Warren each had 1 hit. |

On a day when they needed it most,
Corey Scott pitched his finest game
of the season. He went the distance
allowing only 5 hits and one earned
run to lead Saugus to a 2 –1 victory
for a season sweep of Valencia. In
the campaign Corey struck out 7 batters
and gave up no walks. Offensively,
Ajer was 1 for 2 with a double, an
RBI, and two walks. Brubaker was 3
for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. Brian
Terrazas had the only other hit for
Saugus, a line drive single to right.
Dustin Lucas pitched a solid seven
innings for Valencia but lost due
to an unearned run given up in the
first inning on an error. |

Saugus bats exploded Tuesday with
sixteen hits, which was what they
needed in order to overcome their
unusually porous defense. The multitude
of hits translated into 12 runs while
they followed Valencia 5 unearned
runs for a final score of 12-6. JB
Boersma pitched all seven innings
allowing 7 hits and no earned runs.
Offensively, Nick Kopacka, led the
way going 4 for 4 with four singles,
2 RBI, and a walk. Boersma helped
his cause with a single, a double,
and 3 RBI. Ajer and Soboleski each
added 2 singles and a stolen base.
Allman had a single and a double.
Mascarenas had 2 singles. Brubaker
had a double and was hit by the pitcher
twice. |

Saugus Frosh (12) vs. Burbank
(8) |
Saugus beat Burbank 12 – 8 on a partly
overcast Friday afternoon at the Hart
Complex Colt field. Dylan Mascarenas
hit his first homerun of the season
and Tyler Brubaker hit his second.
Both homeruns were solo shots that
cleared the left field fence. Nick
Kopacka was 3 for 4 with two doubles.
JB Boersma was 3 for 4 with 3 singles.
Brian Soboleski had 2 singles. Troy
Ajer started and pitched 4 innings.
Corey Scott pitched the final 3 innings
for the win.

Saugus Frosh (11) vs. Burbank

Saugus erupted in the first inning
with 8 runs due in large part to Troy
Ayer's 2 homeruns. Saugus sent 12
batters to the plate in the inning.
The final score was Saugus 11, Burbank
5. Ayer finished the campagin 3 for
4 with 3 homeruns, 1 triple, a walk,
and 4 RBIs. The triple nearly cleared
the right field fence. Boersma got
the win by pitching 5 solid innings
allowing only one earned run. He also
had 2 hits in the game. Scott pitched
a scoreless 6th and Wohlers pitched
the 7th allowing 1 earned run. |

Saugus Frosh(8) vs. Hart

On Friday Saugus was able to overcome
their league rivals, Hart. With
the score tied 7-7 in the bottom of
the seventh, Jonathan Warren came
off the bench to pinch hit with one
out and set the table by gaining a
walk. Kevin Christopherson replaced
Warren as a pinch runner. Then
Troy Ajer came to the plate, 3 for
4 on the night with 2 singles and
a
triple, and stroked a double to score
the winning run. Ajer also pitched
well for 6 1/3 innings, but contributed
more with his offense, finishing
up 4 for 5 with 3 RBI's. Boersma pitched
the final 1 2/3 innings. Kopacka
was 2 for 3 with a walk and a stolen
base. Brubaker was 2 for 4 with 1
RBI. Allman, Masceranas, and Terazas
each had 1 hit. Final score 8-7. |

Saugus Frosh(3) vs. Hart

Luck wasn’t in the cards for Saugus
on Tuesday as they continuously pounded
the ball right to Hart fielders and
couldn’t get anything going. Entering
the seventh inning loosing 5-0 with
only three hits, Brubaker stroked
the first pitch he saw into left field
for an inside the park home run that
scored three. However it wasn’t enough
and the Centurions fell to Hart 5-3.
Corey Scott pitched 6 2/3 solid innings
allowing only two earned runs. Ajer
continued his torrid hitting streak
going 2 for 3.

Saugus Frosh(8) vs. Valencia(3) |
With another superb start by Troy
Ajer, The Saugus Frosh baseball team
beat Valencia 8-3 on Friday. Ajer
pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits,
4 strikeouts, and no earned runs.
Corey Scott pitched the final 2 innings
to give the Centurions the win. Offensively
Ajer led the way going 3 for 5 with
2 singles and a double. Matt Allman
was 2 for 3 and chipped in with a
2 RBI single. Saugus had a total of
12 hits. Solid defense and the pitchers
ability to throw strikes are the strengths
of this Saugus squad. In 12 games,
they have only given up 13 walks,
turned a number of double plays, and
committed few errors.

THEY DID IT AGAIN!!! With the game
tied 0-0 at the end of regulation,
Canyon scored an unearned run in the
top of the eighth. In the bottom of
the eighth, Soboleski walked and the
next batter struck-out. Batting eighth,
Mascarenas smacked a 0-2 pitch down
the left field line for a double scoring
Sobeleski. Then Terrazas, pinch-hitting,
stroked a 2 strike pitch into center
field scoring the runner from 2nd
for the victory. Boersma brilliantly
pitched all eight innings allowing
8 hits with five strike outs and no
walks. |

Ranch(4) |
Saugus Frosh executed a 5-4 come
from behind victory in grand fashion
in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Saugus tied the game in the bottom
of the sixth with three hits and two
sacrifice flies only to loose the
lead in the top of the seventh as
West Rranch scored a run. In the bottom
of the seventh, Mascarenas batting
seventh got on base on an error. Terrazas,
pinch-hitting, bunted him over. The
next batter popped up. Ajer was intentionally
walked. Kopacka singled to load the
bases. Then with 2 out, Brubaker hit
a 1-2 pitch into shallow left to score
two runs for the victory. Wohlers
pitched a solid six innings and Hebert
closed it out in the seventh.

Saugus Frosh was defeated 4 – 2 against
Hart in their first league game. Ajer
pitched six strong innings allowing
only 2 earned runs. Boersma pitched
the final two innings when Hart scored
two unearned runs for the victory.
Saugus managed just 7 hits. Ajer and
Mascarenas each had two hits, both
with a double and a single and Kopacka
hit a triple in the first inning.

on Friday at the Hart Complex. |

Ranch(1) |
Saugus freshman take the first game
of the season 11-1 vs. The Westranch
Wildcats. Impeccable team defense
and a solid pitching performance from
Troy Ajer can be credited for the
5 inning mercy rule victory. Ajer
struck out 4 batters and allowed no
walks. He also scored 3 with a bases
loaded triple. Tyler Brubaker and
Nick Kopaca each had two hits. |
