RECAP: 5/16/2006
Saugus 9 vs. Calabasas
3 |
Early in the game Calabasas
jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Saugus,
but as they have many times during
the regular season they battled back.
Sending 12 batters up to the plate
in the third to score 6 runs. Phil
Rowland went 3-for-3 with a double
and Brandon Young went 2-for-4 with
a walk and two RBI's. Peter Ibarra
threw four shutout innings to earn
the victory for Saugus. |

RECAP: 5/10/2006
Saugus 8 vs. Burroughs
5 |
At first this game looked
like it could be a blowout in Saugus'
favor as they took an early 4-0 lead
in the bottom of the first and one
more in the third to jump out to an
early 5-0 lead. However Burroughs
battled back to tie the game in the
top of the fourth inning. But in the
bottom of the fourth Saugus second
baseman Casey Stevenson hit a sacrifice
fly to break a 5-5 tie, then Phil
Rowland added on a two-run home run
in the fifth to help secure the win
for Saugus. Saugus has now won seven
of their last nine games and with
this victory clinched sole possession
of third place and the league's final
automatic playoff birth |
GAME
RECAP: 5/5/2006
Saugus 18 vs. Burbank 5 |
Phil Rowland hits a
Grand Slam to propel the Cents to
a 7-5 lead in the 3rd inning, but
Saugus didn't stop there. Saugus scored
18 runs in route to a mercy rule win
over Burbank. Rowland when 3-for-3
with six RBI's, Tyler Brubaker was
3-for-4 with three RBI's, Brandon
Young went 2-for-2, John Everoad was
3-for-3, and Mr. Dependable Casey
Stevenson went a perfect 4-for-4 at
the plate. Mark Terrazas picked up
the win and improved to 3-3 on the
season. |

RECAP: 5/3/2006
Saugus 9 vs. Burbank 8 |
Phil Rowland hit a two-run
single in the top of the eigth and
Mark Terrazas came in during the bottom
half to get the save for the Centurions
varisty baseball team (10-11, 5-7)
in a 9-8 extra-inning win versus Burbank.
Julian Cruz hit a bases-clearing double
in the seventh to help send the game
to extra innings. Peter Ibarra got
the win and pitched into the eigth
inning. The Cents will host the Bulldogs

RECAP: 4/28/2006
Saugus 2 vs. Hart 7 |
Jenzen Torres was three
for four with two runs batted in as
Hart (15-7, 9-2) defeated Saugus (9-11,
4-7) for the first time in three years,
covering nine games. Hart, which amassed
14 singles and no extra-base hits,
scored four times in the seventh inning
to put the game away. Jake Supowit
and Jason Rehhaud also collected three
hits for Hart, while Tyler Brubaker
homered for Saugus. Casey McCarthy
and Mike Montgomery combined to pitch
Hart to the win. |

RECAP: 4/21/2006
Saugus 6 vs. Canyon 4 |
The Centurions got a
must win game on Friday when they
beat Canyon to take the season series
lead at 2-1, and capture the tie-breaker
for third place. However the game
didn't start out good for Saugus as
pitcher Mark Terrazas hit three batters
in the first two innings, but he was
still able to earn the win. Saugus
tied the game in the third with home
runs from Troy Ajer and Tyler Brubaker.
Saugus' Casey Stevenson got two RBI's
in the sixth to help Saugus win. |

RECAP: 4/19/2006
Saugus 4 vs. Canyon 5 |
The Centurions dropped
a close one on Wednesday to the Cowboys
5-4. In the 1st inning Saugus scored
two runs on a bases loaded single
by Tyler Brubaker. Casey Stevenson
single in a run in the 2nd making
it 3-0 Saugus. Corey Scott went 6
innings with four strike outs and
no walks. Canyon went ahead in the
4th, but Ajer's two-out infield single
tied it up in the 7th. Canyon's Matt
Warr hit a walk off Homer in the bottom
of the 7th to give Canyon the win.

RECAP: 4/13/2006
Saugus 21 vs. Folsom 5 |
The Centurions bats
came alive on Wednesday as they outscored
Folsom 21-5 in tournament action.
Troy Ajer went 6-for-6 breaking a
Saugus High record for hits in a single
game, leading the Saugus baseball
team.

RECAP: 4/12/2006
Saugus 10 vs. El Capitan

The Centurions ended
a long losing streak by beating El
Capitan from Lakeside, California
on Tuesday 10-8. The Cents will face
Folsom on Wednesday at 12:00 pm in
the 56th Annual Lions Invitational
Tournament.

RECAP: 3/22/2006
Saugus 5 vs. Hart 2 |
Julian
Cruz went three for three with one
RBI and two runs scored for Saugus
(4-3, 2-0), which took a 3-1 lead
after a three-run second inning en
route to victory over visiting Hart
(4-4, 1-1). Starting pitcher Mark
Terrazas (1-1) went five innings for
the victory, giving up two runs and
three hits with three strikeouts and
two walks, and reliever Peter Ibarra
got out of a bases-loaded jam in the
sixth inning for his first save of

RECAP: 3/17/2006
Saugus 14 vs. Canyon 13 |
The Saugus Centurions
(3-2, 1-0) offense provided 15 hits
in a come from behind victory over
Canyon (1-4, 0-1). Casey Stevenson
was 4 for 5 with 4 RBI's, Cody Chew
was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and Tyler
Brubaker was 2 for 4 with a homer
and 2 RBI's. Brandon Reynolds' double
in the seventh brought Saugus to within
one run of the Cowboys 13-12. Stevenson's
base hit in the 7th scored the tying
& winning runs for the Cent's.

RECAP: 3/9/2006
Saugus 5 vs. South Torrance
4 |
Saugus scored four runs
in the top of the seventh after being
down 2-1 to defeat South Torrance
in the Easton SoCal Showdown. Mark
Terrazas had an RBI single to break
the 2-2 tie. Zachary Vincej squuzed
in two runners to build the lead up
for Saugus. South Torrance scored
two in the bottom of the seventh,
but Saugus nailed it down. Saugus
(2-2) plays the winner of Palmdale

Saugus 10 vs. Highland

The Saugus varsity baseball
team (1-2) defeated Highland WEdnesday
10-6. Pitcher Peter Ibarra pitched
four innings to one run relief to
record the run, while Tyler Brubaker
and Brandon Young both went 2-for-3
at the plate driving in three RBI
and two RBI respectively. This recap

Saugus 2 vs. Lancaster

At Lancaster, the Centurions
dropped a close game 3-2 to the Lancaster
Eagles. Mark Terrazas took the loss,
but pitched six plus innings of solid
work, scattering 5 hits and striking
out six. Casey Stevenson hit a two-run
double in the 6th inning and Troy
Ajer added his third double of the
year as well.

Saugus 4 vs. Agoura 10 |
The Centurions opened
up the 2006 Easton So. Cal. Showdown
against LA Times Poll #6 Agoura High
School. Junior pitcher Robert Stock
from Agoura pitched a complete game
while giving up 8 hits to the Centurions.
Troy Ajer was 3 for 4 with a pair
of doubles.

RECAP: 4/19/2006
Saugus 6 vs. Canyon 2 |
On Wednesday they beat
Canyon 6-2 at Saugus. Michael Herbert
pitched six strong innings, allowing
five hits and striking out three to
earn the win for Saugus. Dylan Mascarenas
went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and
Darren Schweitzer went 2-for-3 with
an RBI. Saugus will take on Canyon
